2008 Lynden School District Art Contest - on display at the Lynden Pioneer Museum through mid May
Farm Friends Awarded the top three Agricultural entries a ribbon and art supplies prize
Entries came from students in grades six through twelve
1st prize went to Jennifer Maakad, a Grade 12 student at Lynden High School. Her entry is a Water Color
titled "Lone Cowboy." Says, "I am a cowgirl at heart and I wanted to create a piece that would fit in our cabin.
I learned that there are many layers to water color. It takes patience."
2nd prize went to Amberly Fluit, a Grade 8 student at Lynden Middle School. Her entry is a Pastel
titled "Our pride and joy Secretariat." She says, "My art work describes the history or past of one of
the greatest race horses. I call it pride and joy because this picture shows how proud the horse is."
The 3rd place entry prize goes to Laura Sanchez, a Lynden Middle School Grade 7 student.
Her entry is a pencil drawing titled "Cannana." Laura says, "This picture is weird and amazing.
I feel that my drawing kind of represents me in a way because I like bananas and carrots."
Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to all the Lynden School District students who submitted an entry with an agricultural theme. We encourage many more entries next year!
