The Bellingham Food Bank is looking for volunteers to help plant, weed and harvest at the food bank's farm off Guide Meridian.
Small Potatoes Gleaning Project, Growing Washington and Alm Hill Gardens have partnered with the food bank to help provide a steady flow of local organic produce for the estimated 700 families who visit the food bank each week, according to a Bellingham Food Bank press release.
Farm managers expect to have eight tons of fresh produce to give to the food bank by the end of the growing season, the press release said.
Volunteer shifts are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
